Don't forget the food/cash drive for the Westport/Grayland area food bank.
Welcome to the Westport Windriders Kite Club Website!
Our club consists of a great group of people who love all things kite related including (but not limited to) flying, making and teaching others about kites. We’d love to share our passion with you – so please join us.
We get together for fun and flying on the beach in Grayland, Washington (near the Grayland Beach Road approach) on the fourth Saturday of each month except August and December. The brisk Pacific breezes are an excellent source of lift for our kites and our spirits. And when the day is done, we gather for our club meeting at the Willapa Grange Hall where we enjoy a potluck dinner, a raffle and a little gabfest.
Whether you are an avid kite flier looking for some like-minded friends, a child at heart who’s eager to relive those glorious days gone by, or a
family who wants to find a healthy outdoor activity to enjoy together, kite flying and the Westport Windriders just might be the answer to your wishes.
So come fly with us!

2010 AKA Kite Club of the Year
It is with great pride that I announce that the Westport Windriders Kite Club has received the 2010 Kite Club of the Year award from the American Kiteflier’s Association. AKA President, Barbara Meyer, presented the Windriders with the award at this year’s AKA Convention in Seaside, Oregon.
The club was recognized for being one of the oldest kite clubs in the USA as well as for our club’s devotion to kids kite making, the community work we’ve done and the donations we’ve made.
In 2010, one of our greatest projects was making and sending kites to the kids in Haiti. The club also sponsored 2 rooms for the Kite Art Galleries at this year’s convention. For the past several years, the Windriders have sponsored kite pins for the AKA Mass Ascension events as well as competition trophies.
We are one of the few clubs that meet all year round and hold monthly fun flies and potlucks. In addition, we present an AKA sanctioned kite festival every July.
As you can see from this picture, the Westport Windriders were well represented at the 2010 AKA Convention.
Come join us at the next meeting. Let’s toast to this great honor. WAY TO GO WINDRIDERS!!!
Kids Kite Camp
On July 26, 2010 a workshop was put on by Marla Miller & Suzanne Sadow in Seattle at a childrens summer camp. The following are photos from that workshop.

Watch his face and you will know he has become"one" with his kite.
Next time you see Connor Doran congratulate him and thank him for what he has done for kite flying.
